# Memlore > A private journal for your memories. Explore Memlore, an open-source app for writing, reflecting, and finding your way back to what matters. Memlore is a private journal. For the days you want to remember, and the thoughts you need to put somewhere. Everything is encrypted on your device with your password — including what syncs to your own cloud. There is no Memlore server in between, and no way back in without that password. Entries are encrypted on your device, then synced through your own Google Drive or iCloud Drive. We never hold your files, your account, or your key. ## Docs - [Overview](https://memlore.app/docs/): A plain-language map of how Memlore works. - [How privacy works](https://memlore.app/docs/how-privacy-works): What stays on your device, and what only leaves when you turn a feature on. - [Encryption](https://memlore.app/docs/encryption): How your journal is encrypted, and what the recovery sheet is for. - [Locks](https://memlore.app/docs/locks): How the app lock, an invisible vault, and a second lock hide entries. - [Sync](https://memlore.app/docs/sync): How encrypted journal files move between your own devices. - [AI](https://memlore.app/docs/ai): How optional AI features use your journal, and what they do not send. - [Backup and recovery](https://memlore.app/docs/backup-and-recovery): How to keep a copy, and what you need if you lose the password. - [Search and media](https://memlore.app/docs/search-and-media): How search and attached photos, video, and files stay in the vault. - [Memory](https://memlore.app/docs/memory): How Memlore keeps short facts about you, and which model reads your writing to make them. - [Persona](https://memlore.app/docs/persona): How Memlore builds a private writing profile and uses it when AI writes for you. - [Customization](https://memlore.app/docs/customization): How you change the look of the app, and which of those choices stay on this device. - [Maps](https://memlore.app/docs/maps): What a place, a map, and weather send off this device, and how you avoid that. - [Editor](https://memlore.app/docs/editor): How each entry is its own page that saves as you write, and how two devices combine those edits. - [Web companion](https://memlore.app/docs/web): How Memlore Web works, how to sign in with your recovery phrase, and what is supported. - [Web vs desktop](https://memlore.app/docs/web-vs-desktop): What Memlore Web can do today, what stays on the desktop app, and why. ## Site - [Home](https://memlore.app/): A private journal for your memories.
